"What
happens in a session with Nigel?"
Surrendering the Ego
The work that takes place with
Nigel starts the moment you make a decision
to book a session. Your intent (which is driven
by your Spirit) can, in many instances, bring
about subtle changes in your energy even before
you enter the room to begin your session. Sometimes
people find that they have difficulty getting
to the appointment, or they may feel somewhat
apprehensive before the event. All this is natural!
While this can be a normal apprehension
such as one would experience when going to the
dentist, it is attenuated by the capacity to
accept that growth and change are healthy. The
part of us that has always maintained control
of the way we live our life, our beliefs, our
attitudes, and all that flows from them, is
coming up for healing. This part of us is known
as our Ego. Rather than give our Ego a bad name,
let us qualify what we mean by Ego. The Ego,
in our work, is that constellation of beliefs
and attitudes we hold that help us make sense
of reality. These attitudes and beliefs actually
coalesce to form an energy blanket around our
being that forms a sheath through which we view
our reality. The Ego works for us, helps keep
us safe and secure, but does so in its own world.
Your work with Nigel is about acknowledging
the Ego and expanding its horizons. You will
place it in a safe place where it can observe
and learn that it truly would be much better
served, as would your whole being, if it were
to surrender its need to control to the higher
authority of Spirit. Therefore, the work you
will do involves surrender of Ego to God. This
is a primary point and makes the world of difference
to your capacity to heal.
Healing from Spirit
When we speak of healing we are
not talking in the traditional medical sense.
Medical healing involves medical doctors. The
healing that Nigel facilitates is that of the
Spirit. To understand this, it is important
to understand that initially Nigel will open
the session with a brief dialogue to explore
where you are in your life at this moment and
to highlight any major areas of concern to you.
From this point onwards, he will start his work
with the focus on the various aspects of your
energetic body. Healing implies to make 'whole'
- to integrate all the aspects of our being.
In this sense, the work that you will do in
the session spans across four interlocking dimensions
of your being. These four levels are explained
below.
Levels of your Being - the Vehicles
of Consciousness
According to the most deeply held
tenets of spiritual teaching, the inner or hidden
tradition of both east and west tells us that
we operate through and are made up of three
vehicles of consciousness and consciousness
itself. We can explain this by analogy. If you
wished to travel from San Francisco to Sydney
you could, theoretically, travel by way of submarine,
ocean going liner, or aircraft. Each is a qualitatively
different vehicle and each operates in a qualitatively
different environment. The submarine functions
best under the ocean, the liner on the ocean's
surface, and the aircraft a great height above
the ocean. Each is best suited to its own environment,
yet each will take you from origin to destination.
You are present, or the constant, within each
vehicle of travel.
Very often what we tend to do,
in our efforts to function in the world, is
to take our submarine and put it on the runway,
expecting it will take off. It doesn't. Frustrated,
we try to break down the problem into small
pieces to find out why, forgetting that this
vehicle of a submarine was not designed to fly.
Using this analogy, let us go back to healing.
The human being, in the most simplified model
of spiritual teaching, has three vehicles of
consciousness which are all best suited to their
own unique environments.
Physical Body
The first of these is the vehicle
of the Physical Body. This is the vehicle of
action. Our actions are our behaviours throughout
our life. There are right actions and actions
which are inevitably deemed "wrong",
in that they lead us into 'disease' within one
or more of the vehicles of consciousness. The
Physical Body exists in what is called linear
time and space - second, minute, hour, day,
week, month, year, decade, century, and so forth.
In this sense, our experience of life in the
physical body is by way of time, measured as
past, present, and future. It is precisely the
fact that we tend not to live in the moment,
but rather in regrets of the past and fear of
the future, that we develop a lack of ease with
ourselves. It is also of primary importance
to note that the physical body is our karmic
body. Karma is a Sanskrit word which means action.
The physical body is the end result not only
of the DNA of our parents and the experiences
of this lifetime, but also carries forth spiritual
fingerprints of life experiences from previous
soul incarnations. Hence many diseases that
we encounter can be the direct result of karma
brought forth from past life events. Our body
is the living temple for our Soul, our next
vehicle.
Soul
The vehicle of consciousness known
as the Soul is a qualitatively different vehicle
of consciousness and exists in a qualitatively
different experience of time. Contrary to popular
belief, the Soul is not the astral body shaped
to look like the physical body. It is a much
higher vehicle of consciousness which at its
most vibrationally mundane level is seen as
the astral form. The Soul exists in time as
'a day of 1,000 years' or ' a day of Brahma'
or 'a day of our Lord'. One day of 1,000 years
is 4,320,000,000 years. Think about this for
just a moment and you will realise that your
Soul certainly has had many incarnations. Each
incarnation is an active life print of the Soul
as it goes about its work of healing. It is
also highly likely that in this instance of
time, you are living a number of parallel lives
at the same time. Do not confuse yourself over
this, but expand your awareness to the possibility
that you may even be a split Soul. Also be aware
that your Soul has had experiences that even
the most fertile imagination would be hard pressed
to imagine! The point here is that we have lived
our life in a cloistered reality and that cloister
has been created by way of the Ego and its Physcial
Body. Using just 5 physical senses, this vehicle
has told you "what is" and "what
is not" reality. (For those of you who
wish to explore this more deeply, I recommend
that you read Nigel's book "Initiation
Into Miracles".)
The vehicle of the Soul has seven
primary centres through which awareness passes.
These are variously known as Chakras, Psychic
Centres, Seals or Churches. Each tradition labels
them differently, but regardless of the name
you use for them, they exist within the Soul
and have a direct connection to the physical
body. These seven centres, which we will call
Chakras, are from head to toe as follows: Crown
Chakra, above the crown of the head (opposing
forces of life and death); Brow Chakra, also
known as the third eye, located just between
the eyebrows (opposites of vision of unity or
disunity); Throat Chakra (truth or falsity);
Heart Chakra (selfless service to the Absolute
Divine or egocentric self); Power Chakra or
solar plexus (faith or fear); Sacral Chakra
at pubic bone (stewardship or exploitation)
and the Root Chakra at the base of the spine
(dominion or subjugation) which deals with how
you do or do not feel validated in your creation.
The Chakras have an electromagnetic
spin. Ideally, they spin in a clockwise direction
for health and a counterclockwise spin for disease.
To observe them spiritually one would see flowing
outward from the source a tunnel of light which
would resemble a vortex that expands outwards
into infinity. For instance, at the level of
the heart there would be one tunnel spreading
outwards from the heart in the front of the
person and one at the back from the same point
of origin. Each centre ideally focuses its energies
along the spine. Each one of the centres has
a physical counterpart in an endocrine gland.
These glands, such as the pituitary, pineal,
thyroid, thymus, adrenals, spleen and gonads
or ovaries, are the vibrational 'downloaders'
of energy from Spirit.
Think of it this way. Millions
of years ago, the sun cast its kosmic rays across
our planet and one of the results was a beautiful
array of forested lands which covered our earth.
After various changes to the earth's surface,
including ice ages, we today find that these
forests are deeply buried beneath the crust
and have turned to sources of oil or coal. Today
we go and drill for oil, pump it to a generating
stations, burn it, create electricity (how they
still do not know) and then send the generated
charge to a substation somewhere in the township
or suburbs. This is then further downsized to
travel along less powerful wires to the meter
box in your home and then from the meter box
along even lower amperage wires until the potential
electricity reaches the outlet. It is then up
to you to both plug in the appliance you want
and then to turn it on. The very same system
applies to the Chakras. The energy passes from
high vibrational levels in Spirit and downgrades
until it is at a level that your Soul can accept.
Then it downgrades even further and enters your
Physical Body by way of etheric pathways (recognized
in oriental medicine as meridians) and then
charges the endocrine glands positively or negatively.
The resultant charge produces the resultant
biochemical release. These are called hormones,
and it is the hormones that dictate our behaviour
at the physical level. Hence we have come full
circle back to the Physical Body.
Spirit
The third vehicle of consciousness
is that of the Spirit. It is said to exist at
the level of time which we call 'Eternity'.
This is yet another scale of time and one that
cannot even be fathomed at our level of awareness.
The Spirit is a matrix of Divine yet sentient
(aware) Light that has as its primary mode of
being three channels of Light. They are conduits
that travel along the spinal column which in
eastern terms are known as Ida, Pingala, and
Sushumna. In western terms they are known as
the three alchemical principles of salt, sulphur,
and mercury. Understood another way, they are
what we call the Yin, Yang, and Tao; the Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit; Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva,
and so forth. These energies flow up and down
our spinal column and work in conjunction with
the Chakras. They feed the Chakras which further
feed the Physical Body. A free flow of these
energies is essential to spiritual growth and
evolution. (This is also known as the Kundalini
energy, which can only ever be opened at a time
when a great master or adept has brought us
to the point of readiness.) These energies can
be safely activated to function and balance
properly at the level you are most ready to
work at now. This is one of our objectives in
the work is carried out in session.
Visualization and Imagery
You can now see that a lot of
the work being done may not be visible to you
in session, for it is happening at other and
all levels simultaneously. This brings us to
the next point. During your session, you will
be using imagery and breath work. Every thought
is a spectrum of energy that imprints itself
upon our being. There are healthy, loving, compassionate
thoughts and there are polarized thoughts of
hate, envy, greed, anger, and so forth. Know
that with every breath you take you are actually
inhaling pranic energy, or pure life force.
This is breath. The thoughts that you have,
whether they be openly expressed or subconscious
processes, are coloring your breath. This breath
then in turn colors the cellular structure of
your being. As a result, a person who thinks
anger becomes a vibrational vortex of anger
energy. The same is true for love and so forth.
It is also true that every piece of food that
you take into your mouth is colored by your
thoughts. Hence, eating and drinking in peace
and quiet, in reflection on the holier aspects
of life, becomes in and of itself a healing
process. Much can be said about this, and I
encourage you to explore this further.
With this in mind, let us now
consider the breath work and the use of imagery.
Every one of us has the ability to imagine in
our minds eye that which we choose to imagine.
Let me state from the outset that no matter
what anyone says to you (or you say to yourself),
every person is capable of visualizing! For
instance, can you describe to me your bedroom?
Yes or no? If the answer is yes, then go ahead
and do it. What does it look like? What furniture
is in the room, drapes, wall colors, and so
forth. Whether you believe that you visualize
or not, you have just visualized. Let us be
clear - to remember something within our consciousness
is to visualize. To see is not to visualize,
to see is to use the physical eyes and to impress
the energy of the physical light rays upon your
memory.
Now, to imagine is, (rather than
remembering the past), being able to project
into the future within your own consciousness.
Let's go back to your bedroom. If it has a queen
sized bed in it and it faces a particular direction,
can you imagine it with a single sized bed facing
a different direction? If the answer is yes,
then you have imagined. To imagine is to bring
things together that you have visualized and
then to put them in a different order. The greatest
tool of the Spirit, at this level of development,
is to imagine. In your session you will be working
with imagination, but what you will be doing
is using your capacity to lock into images that
have already been created in Spirit by the great
masters - men and women from - who have preceded
us. You will be dealing with what we call Traditions.
Within any given tradition there are specific
thoughtforms that when used properly can elevate
the Soul of a being to a much higher level.
Some of these thoughtforms repeat across each
and every spiritual path - Christianity, Islam,
Judaism, Hinduism, Bhuddism, and so forth.
Effective Prayer
At a particular moment in your
session, Nigel will ask you to share a prayer
with him. The prayer and the invocation are
of vital importance. A prayer by definition
has many dimensions. Some are prayers of supplication,
others of compliance, and then there are those
of deep esoteric activation. The prayer Nigel
will share with you is the latter prayer. It
is important to feel your way through the prayer,
rather than letting it be said for you. Powerful
prayer is felt, emoted, and spoken with clear
intent. In this prayer, Nigel will invoke the
presence, in Spirit, of those most high beings
that provide the basis for the healing that
will be done. While the prayer will shift and
change according to the directions Nigel is
given in Spirit, it will essentially be as follows:
Holy of Holy, Light
of Light, Father of Fathers, Mother of Mothers
Bless us we pray, this and each and every
new day
To accept first and foremost Thee, Thy Love,
Thy Grace, as our very existence
We pray that You will fill our minds with
sacred thoughts and our hearts with holy feelings
That our presence may be sanctified in the
eyes ears and hearts of all those in whom
Thou Art
We pray that You will surround this sanctuary
in which the Soul of Nigel and that of (your
Name) come before You
With a cocoon of the most potent, pure Divine
healing White Light
We pray that from within this sanctuary You
will take from us any fear, anxiety, judgement,
and pain
We pray that You will allow us to surrender
unto You our Ego
Please take our Ego into the furthest reaches
of Your divinity and transmute its life force
according to Your Will
Within this sanctuary we surrender unto You
every thought, word, and deed
We surrender with reverence, gratitude, humility,
and humbleness for all that Thou Art
We call upon the protection and guidance of
our Dearly beloved Lord Jesus Christ, The
Divine Mother who has stepped forth across
time and space taking form in all traditions
and generations, we call upon Lord Sathya
Sai Baba, the Avatar of this age and we call
upon any of the saints and sages in the tradition
of this Soul who stands before You now at
this moment, We ask you all to stand in the
pure limitless Light of the One Absolute God
We pray for the presence, the guidance, and
the protection of the Archangels Michael,
Gabriel; Raphael, Uriel, Haniel, Sandalphon
and all the guardian angels that stand by
this Soul and in service to the One
We thank you as we surrender to the Will of
the One
So be it
Amen, Amen, Amen
Angels and the Divine
Nigel will call forth the Angelic
hierarchy, the Christ, Divine Mother, Bhagavan
Sri Sathya Sai Baba and any of the saints and
sages with whom your soul has a communion and
you have spent your life. Each will be asked
to stand in the pure clear light of God. Once
that is so, he will then move into the prayer
proper. The energy will shift throughout the
session. There are no hallmarks for what is
"right" or "wrong". Evaluation
of the process is to be left out. This is about
spiritual healing with spiritual markers, not
objective and logical markers. Please understand
this.
Crystals
You will be given one or two very
special crystals to hold during your session.
These crystals are hard workers. Each crystal
has its own life. There is not one element that
is not sentient and alive on this planet and
throughout this kosmos. Each crystal has the
ability to become a source of great healing
once it is attuned to your own Spirit. They
are cleared between each session and different
crystals may be chosen for each person. Once
you hold them you will be asked to repeat the
Invocation of Light. This is recognized in the
spiritual dimension as a trigger to fill your
being and those of the crystals with spiritual
energy. Again, no objective markers for this,
but you will understand as the session progresses.
The invocation is as follows.
You will hold both of the crystals, one in each
hand, close your eyes and then repeat this statement,
with feeling and emotion, three times. Nigel
will lead you. This statement is to be felt
at all levels of your being, not to be repeated
as rote.
I am now invoking the light
of God within
I am a clear and perfect channel
Light is my guide
Soul Clearing
The Soul works with Imagery, feelings,
breath and symbolism. Hence our next step will
be a guided Soul Clearing in which you will
expand your awareness to link up to a balance
of masculine and feminine energies. These energies
are the energy of the Father (Pure White Light,
some times Electric Blue) which you will draw
in through your Crown Chakra. This energy will
pass through at a cellular level to every cell,
tissue, gland, and organ of your being. It will
also open, cleanse, and rebalance your Chakras.
Once this is complete, the energy will be directed
to the core of the earth, which beyond our limited
understanding of existence, is a living entity
of pure divine feminine love. Once that has
been articulated, the energy of the Divine feminine
(Mother) will flow up from the earth as a Rose
Pink healing light. It will do so with the same
intensity as the downward Father flow.
You will then be given a few moments
of time to share a prayer of your own. This
prayer is heartfelt and comes from the deepest
aspect of your being. It is not spoken aloud,
but rather it is a direct communion with you
and the Divine. Let your heart open and prepare
to take the journey inward. Your next step is
to make your way to the healing table. You will
lay on your back and be covered with a light
blanket to keep you warm. Nigel will then guide
you into a short period of breathwork. Given
the earlier comments on breathwork, let us now
review what we are doing here.
Breathwork
Firstly, your breath will be conscious.
This means that as opposed to the manner in
which we breath 99% of the time, which is unconscious,
you will actively breath in a conscious way.
You will simply close your eyes and follow Nigel's
guidance. Sometimes you will be directed to
breath deeply and fully, sometimes in a shallow
manner, sometimes rapidly, and sometimes slowly.
Each breath connects on the inhale directly
to the exhale and on the exhale directly to
the inhale. Hence it is conscious and continuous.
The breath work may last 5 minutes
or it may last 20 minutes. Unlike Rebirthing,
this breath work is done purely to open wider
the door of Spirit. Nigel, by this stage, is
totally immersed in following the direction
of Sai Baba. (More on Sai Baba shortly.) While
you are breathing, Nigel will be following the
directions he is given in Spirit which will
vary for each and every person. They involve
working with energy blocks, releasing past life
or present life energies and events, further
and deeper healing of the Chakras and more.
As the session continues, whatever has been
requested by your Soul to come forth from your
time in session will start to manifest. Much
more takes place which cannot be described or
easily defined, but this provides what you need
to understand in order to maximize the time
frame that you share with Nigel.
Sacred Space
Now some points to note about
the sacred space you enter into when you arrive
for your session. Wherever Nigel works, the
energy of the room will have been established
before he starts. This is done by prayer, invocation,
and meditation. Please remove your shoes. Once
in the room you will hear a repetitious yet
soft sound in the background. It is a mantra.
A mantra is a sacred sound, in this instance
composed of particular Sanskrit words that have
the effect of sanctifying a space and all who
share it. The Gayatri Mantra which will be playing
when you enter is actually a recording of Bhagavan
Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Its verses are:
Om
Bhur Bhuvah Svaha
Tat Savitur Vareenyum
Bhargo Deevasya Deemahi
Di YoYo nah Prachodayat
Om, Shanti, Shanti, Shanti
In English this translates as,
Salutations to the Lord Savita, the Creator,
Preserver and the Purifier of all Kosmos. We
meditate upon your Divine Light which stimulates
our power of spiritual perception. Om, Peace,
Peace, Peace.
Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba
When you work with Nigel, you
are in effect working with Sai Baba. This must
not in any way be misconstrued to say the Nigel
channels or becomes Sai Baba. He does not! In
effect, through the prayers and ritual that
you jointly establish, through the energy of
the room, and through the act of surrender to
the Highest most Divine of all, Nigel opens
himself to experience the fullness of Sai Baba's
blessings as they pour forth for whomsoever
he is working with.
So who is Sai Baba? If you have
not read Nigel's book Initiation Into Miracles
please do so. You may also wish to read Howard
Murphet's book Sai Baba Avatar. Sri Sathya Sai
Baba is the physical incarnation of the highest
level of the Divine. He is the Avatar. Avatar
is a Sanskrit (ancient sacred India language)
that means the full embodiment the Absolute
that takes the human form in order to reflect
back to us our own Divinity. Sai Baba is 75
years of age physically, and he has said he
will be with us physically for another 20 years.
His birth was prophesized in just about all
major religions. The following is a quote from
the prophet Mohammed mentioned in Nigel's book.
"There have been many prophecies
that pertain to a Divine being who will be present
at this point in our history. They are to be
found in all manner of culture and creed. It
is pointless to mention them all here, but illustrating
just one may plant the seed for your own further
investigation. It comes from the twenty-five
volume book Ocean of Light which represents
the teachings of the prophet Mohammed. Mohammed
issued the prophecy that the "Master of
the World" would have unmistakable distinct
markings. "His hair will be profuse. His
forehead will be large and concave. His nose
will be small, with a slight bump at the bridge.
His front teeth will be spaced. He will have
a mole on his cheek. He will not have a beard
but will be clean shaven. His clothing will
be like a flame. The colour of his face will
be sometimes yellow like gold, sometimes very
dark and sometimes shining like the sun. His
body will be small. All the teachings of all
the religions of the world will be in His heart
from birth. All the science and the knowledge
of the world from the beginning of time will
be in his heart.
"All things which you ask
the Master of the world, He will give. All treasures
are under his feet. He will give gifts that
are light in weight. He will go around among
His devotees and touch their heads as Blessings.
All eyes that see Him will be happy. He will
live 95 years."
"In the last 20 years of
His life He will be the King of the whole world
but at that time only two thirds of the people
of the world would believe in Him. Muslims will
recognise Him only nine years before His passing
from the world. He will make the world light
and full of peace." And so spoke the Prophet.
(excerpted from Initiation Into Miracles)
Throughout his life Sai Baba has
been known as the Man of Miracles. Nigel may
share some of the miracles that have occurred
personally for him and or he may direct you
to other areas of interest. At one point in
your session Nigel will place an orange shawl
over his shoulders. This shawl was manifested
by Sai Baba specifically for Nigel to use in
his work with people in sessions. In speaking
about Sai Baba, it is very important to note
one thing. Sai Baba does not ask for followers
and has never worked to establish a new religion.
He emphatically says that he has not come here
to change your religion. Rather he has come
here to uphold the eternal and perennial truths
evident in all faiths. Therefore, if you are
a Christian, he emphasizes that you be a good
Christian; if a Jew, be a good Jew, and so forth.
So please also note that Sai Baba says that
"by whatever name you call me I shall come".
Hence, if you as a Christian call unto Jesus
or the Divine Mother, know that this is the
exact same thing. Be open to the fact that different
spiritual entities from different faiths, some
from this life and others from lives of the
past, may step forward to assist in the healing
process.
Closure and Follow-up
Once the session comes to a close
Nigel will direct you to slowly shift and get
up. Occasionally people will feel sleepy or
light headed after sessions. This is natural
and normal, as is also the possibility of feeling
specific energy intensities in certain parts
of your being. These will be blocks that are
being worked upon. (Remember that your healing
continues beyond the time in session. Many people
experience shifts and changes for months after
their actual session time.) Once you are up
and ready to leave, Nigel will give you some
water and suggest certain instructions. Over
and above any instructions that you are given
I recommend the following:
a. Drink a lot of water
for the next five days. Make the restroom
your very best friend. It is important to
realise that when you are doing your spiritual
healing, you are detoxing at a cellular level.
This detox means that whatever you have released
is now decrystalised in your blood stream
and needs to be washed out. The water does
this job.
b. He will also direct
you not to drink tea, coffee or alcohol.
c. You will be asked
to walk around and get some fresh air before
you proceed to drive, so as to ground yourself.
d. It is advisable to
establish a daily routine in the practice
of meditation. If you do not already have
them, I suggest that you consider using Nigel's
meditation tapes (Not to be played in a moving
automobile) which were specifically designed
for this purpose. There are four volumes of
4 tapes in each. I will explain them to you
if you wish to know more or you can find information
about the tapes on our website at www.nigeltaylor.com,
and you can order them by writing directly
to me at nigelrtaylor@att.net
for quick service. Plus I would also suggest
reading Nigel's book, Initiation Into Miracles,
if you have not already done so.
One question that often comes
up is, "Should I have another session and
if so when?" That will be your choice and
will become obvious to you and Nigel if it is
appropriate. Nigel will often see a person more
than once if it is meant to be. Generally, those
who he sees again have taken a specific task
of working with the tapes and the book to improve
the quality of their spiritual lives with deep
intent.
Duration
In the first meeting a
session will run for up to one and one half
hours. Subsequent sessions may run slightly
less.
Attire
Come relaxed and in loose fitting
clothing, for your comfort.
Fee
Nigel charges a fee for the sessions
simply because this is the way he has been instructed
to make his living by Sai Baba. He does not
charge for Sai Baba interviews or blessings,
because he neither is, nor gives them, despite
the fact that Sai Baba may well choose to do
exactly that! The healing that takes place is
not done by Nigel. It is done by Sai Baba and
your own Spirit's willingness to participate.
And there's more
Satsang
As a further point to note, Sai
Baba has instructed Nigel to run Satsang. This
is a gathering of spiritually intentioned individuals
who will share up to two hours of specific ritual,
including prayer, bhajans (singing of sacred
songs), mantras, and a discourse. The previous
activities are then followed by a healing meditation
and Padnamaskar (blessing of the most High)
from the Padugas (Shoes of the Lord). Satsang
is run on a donation basis and whenever time
or numbers make it viable. Anyone is most welcome
to attend. Where private sessions are not viable
due to the financial considerations, please
approach Nigel and, if possible, he will accommodate
a few individuals at a time for a donation based
group healing. However, it is first important
that they participate in the Satsang, for much
healing will take place there.
With Gratitude
We can only do our work by the
Grace of God and we thank you for helping to
make it possible. If you feel that friends or
relatives would benefit from sharing at either
the Satsang, a class or a healing session then
please encourage them to read the book, listen
to the tapes, and if they then still are interested
to read this material and make an appointment
by calling me at 1-908-832-2527 or by
email: nigelrtaylor@att.net
Enjoy your moments of great bliss
and be aware that your life will continually
change as the days and months unfold after the
event of this session!
Blessings of great love and Light,
OM SAI RAM

Healing with Nigel
Healing sessions are continuing
to expand in both the number and potency. It is
important that we make some very clear points
here relating to exactly what does happen. To
do this, let me quote from Dr. Paul Brunton (one
of Nigel's all time favourite spiritual teachers)
and his small but uniquely beautiful text The
Inner Reality. I have italicised statements that
are of great import. After you have read the article,
you may wish to consider pondering over the words
and their meaning in your own health, healing,
and spiritual journey.
"There is a very widespread
misconception in America, a misconception that
is much more prevalent there than in any other
country of which I know, and that is that if you
attain spirituality, if you realise your divine
self, you will then automatically demonstrate
prosperity, perfect health and everlasting good
fortune. This, probably the gravest error that
could arise in the mind of the seeker after Truth,
is believed by millions of American people. It
is a doctrine which carries all the glitter but
little of the weight of gold. Let us try to understand
the implication of this claim.
If prosperity is to be made
the criterion of one's spirituality, then Jesus
was a failure, a spiritual failure. He had no
prosperity at all. He carried no purse, possessed
no capital. Buddha gave up all he had, so he would
also have been a spiritual failure. Jesus never
said that if men followed Him they would become
wealthy; so why should such claims be made by
the professed followers of Jesus today?
If perfect health is to be
made the criterion of one's spirituality, then
we must admit that some of the greatest saints
in Christian history were not saints at all. In
the Orient, we have the examples of various sages
like Ramakrishna and the Maharishee who did not
enjoy perfect health, but who are regarded as
the highest sages.
There is a way known to yogis
to attain perfect health; you can make the body
as resistant to all diseases as steel; you can
make it as strong as a human body can be; you
can prolong its life span far beyond normal. There
is a way, but to find and practise that way requires
that you sacrifice everything else, because the
discipline necessary to attain that condition
demands all your time and all your energy and
the severest regime of asceticism. The price
is as high as the prize. It is an impractical
way for us so let us rule it out.
So we have to decide whether
these things mean anything at all, or whether
they mean nothing. Men you will say, have performed
marvels of spiritual healing either upon themselves
or upon others. That is true; but it is the result
of an occult, not a spiritual power, and all occult
powers are powers of the mind, not of the Overself,
latent or little known perhaps, but still powers
of the mind, and of that part of which I call
the Overmind. There is no such thing as spiritual
healing in the sense of direct spiritual healing,
but indirectly, yes.
For an adept or for a man
who has attained the consciousness of the Eternal
to use an occult power is to step down into the
world of form, time, and illusion. From the standpoint
of a man who has realized Truth, all occult powers
are of the illusory self and worth having only
after this realization has been obtained. Whether
he possesses these powers or not depends upon
the line of evolution along which he has gone
in former lives. If he has worked for occult powers
he will get them now, if he has not sought for
them they will not come to him. But he will still
have one power, the power of the Overself, and
that is the root of all power.
So you must understand that
the consciousness of the spirit may be obtained
and yet one may have no healing power other than
the one primal power of healing souls and hearts
and minds. But do not expect that every man who
has entered into the spirit will therefore attain
perfect hearth, or will be able to give others
perfect health. He may or may not, that is entirely
a matter of destiny, that particular self-earned
destiny which has come to him as the result of
his evolution.
Until you have finished your
quest you can have nothing but opinion, theory,
fancy, because there is only an extremely gradual
dawning of more and more truth. The end is a sudden
rebirth into the kingdom of heaven, and once it
comes, it comes like a flash of lightning.
From the standpoint of a man
living in truth, the body is an ephemeral thing.
He knows the body will die as surely as it was
born, that he has had, maybe, hundreds of bodies,
and he looks upon it as he looks upon the rest
of this material universe, as nothing more than
an idea passing through consciousness, just a
mental picture to be born and to die.
From the standpoint of truth,
which is the standpoint of reality, the entire
universe is nothing but a dream. All life is almost
a phantom, a mental picture, something that flows
through consciousness and is gone. How then
can a man who lives in that eternal consciousness
so over-value the body that he can regard a perfect
state of physical health as the only perfect demonstration
of spirituality? He will have enough common sense
to know that good health is necessary and desirable,
but he will not allow that knowledge to delude
him into thinking that the ephemeral body can
dictate to the eternal Spirit. The Spirit
has only one power, and that is the source of
all other power. Mental powers come ultimately
out of the Spirit power but they come only to
those who seek them, not necessarily to those
who do not seek them.
Can everlasting good fortune
be a criterion? Can one enter into tune with the
Infinite and thereafter experience nothing but
good fortune? Is it possible that all the gifts
of the gods will fall into your lap; that you
will never know what misfortune is; that everything
in the garden of life will be beautiful and lovely
until you die? That, I am sorry to say, is another
illusion. This ephemeral world is definitely a
world of mixed suffering and sweetness because
it is a transient world, a world which has a beginning
and an ending. Therefore, you cannot find perfect
happiness in it, although you can find it in your
self. Nothing can remain perfect for ever; no
good fortune can remain permanent.
There are people who have
founded cults over in America, with adherents
numbered by the millions. The founder of one cult
that gives out excellent teachings interspersed
with fallacies, died after an illness of two years.
Throughout her life she taught that consciousness
of the Spirit infallibly brought perfect health.
But she could not bring it to herself. Realizing
that the tangible results did not square with
the theory, her illness was kept secret. The worth
of any spiritual cult is not to be measured by
its amplitude.
A lecturer, who was addressing
thousands of people a day in a certain city I
was visiting, told his listeners that if they
would tune in to the Infinite they could eliminate
all of their bad destiny immediately, and henceforth
everything would be beautiful in life, no illness,
poverty, or lack of any kind. Not long after,
he stopped his classes and lectures, disappeared
for a whole winter, but later came back lecturing
more beautifully than ever. He could only give
lectures! He had had a nervous breakdown, which
had to be kept secret, too. He was telling people
that to tune in to the true Spirit would give
them a perfectly harmonious and healthy life,
but he could not eliminate the destiny of his
nervous breakdown.
I will tell you what in these
teachings is false, and what there is of truth
in them. If you happen to have been a member of
one sect or another for twenty years and have
formed a set of stiff notions, such as that there
exists a brotherhood of adepts in Tibet, or that
there is a continuation of earthly existence in
the after-death state; if you firmly believe these
things, all right, but if you believe them to
the extent that you cannot disbelieve them, it
is all wrong. You must hold such beliefs loosely,
and if the truth would come and say, "That
is not true", you should be so delicately
poised that you can let those beliefs go, even
though you have held them for twenty years. If
you are not so delicately poised it means that
you have become dogmatic without even being certain
of the actual reality of your beliefs.
People come to me with talk
of occultism and put questions that are really
requests to endorse their cults. Well, there is
a good deal in the teachings of these latter that
is certainly correct and much that is incorrect,
but I do not like the way in which they have complicated
simple truths: they have made the finding of the
kingdom of heaven more difficult than the scaling
of Mount Everest, which is the loftiest height
I have ever seen.
Credulous people take to these
studies and become subject to hallucinations which
they glorify as truth. Because I am sorry for
those who have lost themselves in a forest of
foolish doctrines, I have written this chapter
in an effort to assist them out of it.
You must beware first of all
of becoming captive in dogmas implanted in your
mind by others. You must beware of persons who
dupe themselves and deceive others by unscientific
speculations which cannot prove themselves, which
are wrapped in unnecessary mystery. You must refuse
to give uncritical credence to them.
Jesus gave demonstrations
of His character and power, saying, "By their
fruits ye shall know them." Scientists use
the same rule; if they cannot demonstrate their
theories, they discard them. The acid test of
all spiritual theories is in the laboratory of
daily living. That is where you must test the
claims of these cults to ascertain their value.
The omission of the factor
of fate in so many of these cults is due to ignorance.
That is where Asia has something to teach you.
To put your heads in the sand like an ostrich
and refuse to see the existence of an element
of predestination in most of the major events
of your personal life does not cross out its existence.
It is still there.
Man lives a two-fold life,
an outer material life and an inner emotional-mental
life. His outward deeds and actions are simply
the result of his inner thoughts and feelings.
They may take centuries to materialize, often
not till a later birth, but ultimately they do.
The world which you do not see, the unseen world
of thought and feeling, is the real world of causes;
the world which you see around is the world of
effects.
Because man tends to express
his inner self by his outer actions, it may safely
be said that his outer life corresponds to his
inner life. The world as a whole in itself is
nothing else but the expression of Divine Ideation,
the very thought of God expressed. Man, in his
own little way, is also a creator and is creating
his own world - the world of his own experiences
- the expression through which he lives. That
chain of causal connection between man's inner
thought, his inner feeling, and his outward experience,
is unseen. But it is there, and it is there by
a subtle force, the law of destiny.
Destiny is something entirely
self-created, self-earned, whether it is for good
or for evil. If man does not know that whatever
he gives out in life to the world is ultimately
thrown back to him by destiny, that does not excuse
him. Nature never excuses ignorance. Man is the
builder of his own life, the creator of his own
fate, both outward and inward. Destiny is not
a blind force; it is one expression of that greater
cosmic Intelligence which rules the universe.
It has a purpose to fulfil, and that purpose,
so far as man is concerned, is an educative one.
Destiny is like a balance, if you depress one
side of the scale you find the other side goes
up in proportion. Destiny restores the balance
in man's life because she wishes him to understand
himself, his powers and possibilities as well
as the fact that he is here to fulfil the higher
purpose of his incarnation.
Destiny is quite impersonal
and universal. It has no sense of retribution.
There is no motive of punishment in that great
force. As a man creates his own destiny by his
thoughts and feelings and actions he gets back
unerringly from life sooner or later what he himself
gives to life. There is no escape.
You are here to learn, to learn who and what you
are. That is the purpose of your incarnation,
and the experiences of life are the lessons which
will ultimately teach you. Mostly you learn blindly
and unconsciously, but still you are learning.
It is unfortunate that most
men learn more from suffering than from pleasures.
Unfortunate because they seldom learn enough with
a single sorrow. It has to be repeated, perhaps
getting worse with each repetition, until the
lesson is etched into the heart, burned into the
mind.
Until you arrive at the real
self, you are distorted and warped; you cannot
think truthfully and you cannot act truthfully.
Go back and look at your past; you will see how,
even in this birth, you have created much of the
experience through which you have gone. Many of
those very warpings were present in former lives;
they reappear in succeeding lives and they bring
with them the destiny which is attached to them.
The destiny which you have
earned in former lives you are working out now
in this life. From that kind there is not much
hope of escape, but there is every hope that it
can be modified or altered.
There is a second kind of
destiny: the fate which has been stored up for
you in previous embodiments and which will be
allotted to you in some future earth-life. That
represents the greatest mass of destiny which
is attached to any individual, because naturally
he can work out only a little in a single life.
That does not affect you now, but it will affect
your next earth-life.
I shall try to explain this
in another way. If you shoot at an object in a
jungle, believing it to be a tiger, and after
the trigger has been pulled, and the bullet sped
on its way, you see that the object is a man,
a friend of yours, you cannot recall the bullet
and lodge it in the gun again. The bullet must
take its course. The body in which we are born
in this particular incarnation, together with
the circumstances and environments attached to
it, is the bullet which was shot out from your
past, and the past cannot call it back again.
It must speed its course.
All future shots, however,
belonging to the lives that are to come, can be
recalled, can be stopped at their very source.
That is, it is possible to stop creating any fresh
destiny as well as to wipe out the possibility
of all future incarnations, because they have
not yet begun.
So long as your body is here
its destiny is attached to it. But you can alter
your reaction to it. You can react to the misfortune
of losing all that you love and possess by taking
it calmly. You can say: "Another cycle of
my life is finished and I must begin a new cycle;
I will therefore readapt myself to the new cycle
without fear. I will do everything that common
sense counsels to mend matters and meet results."
Or, in a state of deep depression, believing that
you are finished, that life has no further hope
for you, you can commit suicide. Both attitudes
are the expression of your own choice, but the
happening which you face is one and the same for
the two moods.
The best way to escape is
to get to the region where these forces do not
work, to become fate-free. You can do that only
by returning to your divine centre and staying
there. If you do that whilst you are in the flesh,
then that vast store of destiny which was awaiting
you in future embodiments becomes dissolved and
disappears. Why? Because it is the destiny of
the personal ego, and when you have eliminated
the tyranny of the latter you have eliminated
the tyranny of the destiny attached to it; you
are free, and with death that vast mass of accumulated
stored-up destiny disappears completely. That
is why Buddha meant when he said that you enter
into Nirvana to escape the terrifying cycle of
unending rebirths.
If you wish to avoid the misfortunes,
the unpleasant experiences of life, you must learn
to nullify the so-called evil destiny. If you
live in the material world, then you must go through
world experiences. But you can conquer your destiny
inwardly. You can give up both pleasure and pain
so that hey do not touch you within your innermost
being. You can stand aside from the processes
of life inwardly, and although these experiences
come to you, you can see them for what they are
and realize them for their true value.
To find yourself is to find perfect mental equilibrium.
Even if the greatest sufferings come to you they
cannot disturb your peace. Neither can the greatest
pleasures disturb you. You remain rooted in your
divine centre, which is the only place where peace
can be found. There is no running away from yourself,
except to run within.
This is what happens to the
adept. All the immense storehouse of destiny which
has come down to him from the past and up to this
particular incarnation in which he now lives is
wiped out but not that which belongs to the present
body. He must endure it, and he does. But he will
endure his destiny with a different attitude than
would the average man. Sorrow does not mean sorrow
to him; good fortune does not mean good fortune
to him; he is detached. He looks upon both pleasure
and pain with calm eyes. No matter what his personal
self is passing through he enjoys perpetually
the consciousness of eternal life, so he is happy
within. He does not particularly seek good fortune.
He will welcome it is it comes, and enjoy it;
he is not incapable of enjoying it. But if pain
and sorrow were allotted to the body he would
not object. He does all that common sense would
dictate to modify and alter, but that which cannot
be modified or altered he accepts resignedly.
The adept refuses to be swept
hither and thither by destiny, and neither the
greatest pleasures nor the greatest misfortunes
can break his wonderful calmness. You, too, must
try to reproduce the same attitude by living as
close to the Divine as you can get.
You do not eliminate present
destiny when you enter the eternal; but what you
eliminate is the destiny which has been stored
up through countless lives; not that of the earth-life
you are now living.
But remember always that it
was within your power to modify and to alter your
destiny. Life is not a cast-iron thing because
fate is only one of the forces that are playing
upon us. There is also the force of free will,
and the stimuli resulting are a mixture of both.
Your own free will once created your present destiny,
so you can create something even now.
Destiny sends the circumstances
of your life; the major events are brought you
by destiny such as birth, death, marriage, the
meeting with the spiritual teacher, all those
come to you by its mysterious operation. Troubles
also come, but it is in your power to make them
better or worse. And so you should never fall
into that fatal lethargy into which so many in
the Orient have fallen, when they sit down helpless
and hopeless and say, whatever the misfortune:
"It is God's will; we can do nothing. We
must sit down and bear it to the biter end."
Thus they repudiate their
own innate divine power. This has been their degradation.
It explains why they have fallen into such a state
of servitude, as so many of them are today. If
India was a subject-nation for years and the prey
of alien invaders for hundreds of years, it is
partly India's own fault. The abuse and misuse
of the truth of destiny is the cause of many troubles.
You cannot become weak through knowing truth;
but you do become weak by ignorance. Be strong!
In the face of adverse fate
we have to learn two things: when to accept it
and when to resist it. There are times when it
is wise to resign yourself to overwhelming circumstances,
learning their bitter lesson. But there are other
times when it is wiser to fight them with the
courage of a lion. You must find out for yourself
which is the right time. Such wisdom comes only
in its perfection to the adept. Why? Because he
has learned to stand aside from the purely personal.
There are times when misfortunes
are cups of blessing and they should be accepted.
There are also times when good gifts are cups
of poison, and they should be rejected. Only by
becoming absolutely impersonal can we judge between
them. The "I", the ego, is your enemy;
it can become your friend. It is your enemy so
long as it monopolizes your attention; it becomes
your friend when it stands aside and says, "Not
my will, by Thy will be done." If you look
for that which is behind your personal self, your
personal life, your mind, your body, for that
which is true reality and spirit, there you will
find peace. No one can rob you of it; no one can
take it away from you. You will have found life
eternal."
Brilliantly
worded! Thank you to Dr Paul Brunton. I highly
recommend any and all of you to avail yourself
of Paul Brunton's material. They are lucid and
articulate endorsements of what we inherently
know to be true in our heart, but so every often
ignore in our daily existence. So the question
is, why have I put this excerpt in the section
on Nigel's healing work?
Answer. Many people ask both
Nigel and me exactly what happens in a healing
session. I have put notes on the website to explain
the processes that take place, but it is almost
impossible to explain the subjective energetic
spiritual experience that unfolds. In quoting
the above, I feel it is important to reiterate
what Nigel has always said. "I do not do
any healing at all. I am no more than an instrument.
Whosoever comes to me for a session does so of
their own free will. They are brought by Spirit.
I surrender to the Divine and, as such, I allow
my body, mind, and spirit to be instruments in
the hands of the Divine. In particular, I hand
over directly to Sai Baba. I do not channel Sai
Baba. Why would I? He is not to be channelled
for He is Omniscient, Omnipotent, and Omnipresent.
No, rather, if it is the Will of God, then the
person who comes forth connects with God through
the processes we have in place and then they,
in this communion, bring healing to their souls.
I will follow whatever guidance I am shown by
Sai Baba and/or other Divine beings and direct
the individual to choose which way they wish to
go. It is all about surrender.
"Furthermore, (adds Nigel)
I posses no inherent healing power. Or if I do,
then it is no different than that of anyone else.
I have no occult power to heal another being.
Healing simply occurs when the spirit of the one
who comes forth is prepared to match the Grace
that is ready to be poured down upon them by the
Divine. To that end, the God in me communes with
the God in them and together we uplift the spirit
to reach a higher level of being. Now, in context
of this, if a person comes forth and says "tell
me what is wrong with me", I am not endowed
with the faculty to tell people this answer. To
do so would imply a power within me that I simply
have either not developed or never had offered
to me. However, should it be the will of the Divine
that a window on this issue unfolds before me
during the sessions, and should it be the Will
of the divine that this is shared after the event,
then so be it.
"Healing sessions always,
I repeat always, bring changes to a person's life.
It is not possible to pass through a healing session
and not be changed. Such a change really comes
down to an understanding of what does take place
in the session. To this end, I can now share what
Sai Baba is doing in many, but not all, sessions.
If you review the article Regina quoted, you will
note that Brunton specifically states that there
is only one source of healing, but literally numerous
sources of disease. Some are from this life and
some are from past lives. Given that our body
and being is but a thoughtform in the grand dreamfield
of life, then we must also be aware that this
thoughtform is a composite of all previous actions,
current actions, and potential future consequences.
Karma. Karma means action. The physical body is
our action body and, therefore, it is our karmic
body. It stores up and holds in spirit all potencies
that are able to be cleared by the one and only
one we call God. This one and only is the Source
that Brunton speaks of. No occult powers will
heal the soul and spirit from the consequences
of more than a few impressions resident in the
physical body of a being present for healing.
However - and here is the twist - the true art
of healing is the ability to stand so firmly and
truthfully in the moment as a divine being that
the Source (God) digs deep into the well of our
being and pulls out the original genesis of disease
that first made an impact upon our being. The
first. Today, we see the symptoms in our spiritual
body of that which is the cause - our very very
first cause. The very first breath that the soul
took to separate itself from the Unity was the
first cause of disease. That action started a
series of events that played out in spirit until
eventually they played out in lifetime after lifetime
until they became the nature and form of disease
for all of us. Having said that, when a person
is fully open to surrender, fully cognisant of
the facts of what this means, and when their spirit
is willing, they can then commune with God and
at that moment the healing takes place. What happens
is that the original karmic point from the original
breath and the original thought, which resides
way beyond body, mind, and soul, is pulled out
and al of the barbs that connect it to all beings
and souls throughout the entire Kalpa are also
pulled out with it. This does not mean instantaneous
healing. What is does is activate a pathway whereby
the surrender process is fully engaged and all
aspects of the person are called into force to
bring about the overall healing. Now, when we
look at the life of the Buddha or Jesus or the
saints such as Ramakrishna, they exhibited what
it was like to act as karmic magnets. They would
pull out such karmic consequences through their
divine relationship to God - the One. In so doing,
they would often wear the impact of such work.
Hence, they then passed over these consequences
to their Source and healed accordingly. They were
also not blind to the trials and tribulations
of their own physical reality. They did experience
such sickness as would make them look less than
divine - but that is not so, as Brunton pointed
out.
For my par,t one thing I do
know is this. I am neither saint nor sage, adept
nor guru. I do not honestly know for what reason
I have been pointed in the direction of performing
healing sessions. But it is currently part of
my soul's journey to do so. Perhaps in a past
life I did the opposite - dispensed advice that
aggravated the situation - or worse. Who knows?
I do not, but then that is because it is irrelevant
to me. What is relevant is that when Sai Baba
speaks, I listen. What I am told time and again
is that He and He alone (as God Incarnate) can
pull the strings of destiny (or karmic consequences)
from a soul's life. As He does so, it then frees
the soul not to immediately walk in eternal peace
(although it may), but rather it offers the person
much deeper clarity about his or her own life.
One is able to go deeper and deeper into relationship
with God, whereby one realises that all along
the healing has been done by God through the God
in oneself. Therefore, I act as a mirror to your
soul and as no more than an eternal listening
post to the one I love most dearly - the Poorna
Avatar of this age - Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba."
If you are interested in having
a healing session with Nigel, please read these
notes carefully, as well as the other session
notes listed on the website. There is work to
be done both before and after the event. Since
the power of the healings is growing day by day,
please do be prepared to do the work. To attend
and then ignore the work is a pointless waste
of time and money. Also, please book early for
sessions are very limited in number and we can
only schedule in accord with the time we have
available in each location. It is also of great
benefit to you, once you have had your session,
to develop the discipline Nigel discusses with
you. This includes regular meditation using his
tapes and contemplation on the Footsteps in his
first book, Initiation Into Miracles.
